Non-Invasive Cardiovascular Testing | Invasive Cardiac Procedures
At South Palm Cardiovascular Associates, we use advanced testing and prevention approaches to provide you with a superior level of care. When it comes to lipid testing, standard tests provide a total cholesterol level, as well as high-density lipoprotein (HDL, or “good” cholesterol) and low-density lipoprotein (LDL, or “bad” cholesterol) counts, and often triglyceride counts as well. However, patients at risk for coronary artery disease may very well have cholesterol levels in the normal range, and patients who have been treated with cholesterol-lowering medications may still develop heart disease or strokes. Therefore, as part of the best cardiac care available, your doctor may want further, more specific detailed tests during your lipid therapy that gives further information.
At SPCVA, our top cardiologists often order advanced lipid testing for their patients, which provides additional information on some other possible risk factors. Advanced lipid testing measures different proteins and protein particle size and numbers than standard lipid tests do; these are more predictive of cardiovascular disease than cholesterol numbers.
The simple blood tests can be performed regularly at our preventative clinic in Boynton Beach. This advanced testing will allow you and your dedicated cardiologist to have up-to-date information on your treatment, and monitor your progress as you advance toward better health.
