Non-Invasive Cardiovascular Testing | Invasive Cardiac Procedures
At South Palm Cardiovascular Associates, we stress careful follow-up and monitoring of all cardiac patients under our care. This care is exemplified in our management of patients on blood thinners like warfarin (Coumadin). If you are taking a blood-thinning medication such as Coumadin, your cardiac specialist will ask you to regularly come in and participate in monthly monitoring of the coumadin’s effects with a blood test called Prothrombin time (often referred to as ‘PT’ or ‘INR’).
We assess our Coumadin patients’ INR via a finger prick test to sample blood and the amount of time it takes to form a clot. The t time will be longer for patients taking blood thinners, but still needs to be within a carefully controlled range. INR can be affected by medication dosage, diet, other medications including over-the-counter drugs, and other factors which will be carefully review with your by our staff.
The Coumadin/PT Clinic at SPCVA is one of the best in Boynton Beach. Our top cardiac care providers monitor patients very closely and compassionately to ensure optimal treatment outcomes and patient well-being.
